2023-1117 - Have your say on taxi fares and tariffs in London ...

Dear All,

The following email has been sent to us from Transport for London about their survey for comments on taxi fares.

Please note that the closing date for comments is

Monday 20th November 2023 - i.e. NEXT Monday

We're reviewing taxi (black cab) fares and tariffs in London and would like your views on whether changes should be made to the current taxi fares that can be charged by London taxi drivers.

Transport for London (TfL) licences and regulates taxi and private hire services in London. As part of this, we set the maximum fares that taxis (black cabs) can charge. We are considering four possible options for fares and tariffs and would like to know what you think of these.

We are also proposing changes to the fares for longer taxi journeys (Tariff 4) and the extra charge for taxi journeys that start from one of the taxi ranks at Heathrow Airport. We're also reviewing the extra charge for booked taxis and the fixed-fare shared-taxi scheme that operates during the Wimbledon tennis Championships.

Please go to our consultation website to find out more information on the options we are considering, the background to the proposals, as well as a survey seeking your views. We will use the feedback from the survey to inform our recommendations.

We would like to hear from as many people as possible and we would welcome your support in passing this message on to others in your networks who might be interested in taking part.

The consultation is open until Monday 20 November.

If you have any questions, please email haveyoursay@tfl.gov.uk with 'Taxi fares' in the subject line.

We look forward to hearing from you.

Yours sincerely,

Helen Chapman
Director - Licencing and Regulation
