May Madness on Starch Green!

 

The world famous Hammersmith Morris will be kicking off family-friendly fun at the feel-good community event on Starch Green at 11am. We’re inviting the local community to come together to celebrate all things Spring with further performances by the Hammersmith Morris at 11.30am and 12 noon, Maypole Dancingat 12.30pm (get your dancing shoes on - all welcome to join in), kids games and activities by The Sulgrave Club, face-painting by Portico, Flower bike by Stems & VinesGreenside School home-bake, bubble tea tasting and coffee by Mine Bubble Tea House, pop-up Dr Bike session, and plenty more*.

Just up Askew Road, Askew Gallery and Stems & Vines are hosting Spring Watercolour & Calligraphy Workshops at 1pm and 5pm. Join local calligrapher Laura Edralin and watercolour artists Eve Leoni for this special Spring workshop with fresh floral inspiration, a welcome drink and goodies to take home. Book here

Ready to connect with nature? On the evening of Saturday 17th there will be a Batwalk in Ravenscourt Park led by Paul Schifferes. Meeting at 9pm at the tennis courts at the south end of the park (near the railway arches) Paul will lead the walk using his bat detector to find and identify bats - hopefully. The walk will end at around 9.45pm. Book here.

If you need further immersion in nature join Andrew Peel on his Dawn Chorus Walk at 5.30am on Sunday,18th May. Meeting at the double gates to Ravenscourt Park on Paddenswick Road, Andrew will lead a walk around the park to experience the beauty of birdsong, the sound of Spring as birds sing to establish their territories and attract mates. The walk will end around 7am - remember to wrap up warm as mornings can still be chilly in May. Bring binoculars if you have them. Book here.
