Incident Details: A Section 60/60AA of the Criminal Justice & Public Order Act 1990 and a Section 35 of the Anti-Social Behaviour, Crime & Policing Act 2014 have been authorised by Superintendent Brockway and will be in place from 12:00 hours on Thursday 17th April 2025 until 00:01 hours on Friday 18th April 2025 due to the football match between Chelsea FC and Legia Warsaw. These will both cover the area bounded by Northside of Putney Bridge following along the River Thames to Hammersmith Bridge, Hammersmith Bridge Road to Hammersmith Underground Station, the A4 to Hyde Park Corner, South on Grosvenor Place to Vauxhall Bridge, then Vauxhall Bridge to Nine Elms Lane, Battersea Park Road to York Road, Swandon Way. The A205 to Putney High Street, to Putney Bridge. This authorisation will be reviewed regularly throughout its duration and withdrawn as soon as the risk no longer justifies its continued use.

As a follow up to the previous partner message (attached), please be advised that the geographical area for both the Section 60/60AA & S35 in respect of Chelsea v Legia Warsaw football match has been updated.
Incident Details: 
  • North Boundary - Harrow Road (A404) near Westbourne Park - Ladbroke Grove - Holland Park Avenue (A402).
  • East Boundary - Edgware Road (A5) toward Marble Arch - Park Lane (A4202) - Vauxhall Bridge Road (A202).
  • South Boundary - Queenstown Road (A3216) - Wandsworth Road (A3036) - Possibly up to West Hill (A3) or Upper Richmond Road.
  • West Boundary - Chiswick High Road (A315) - Goldhawk Road - Uxbridge Road (A4020) toward Shepherd’s Bush

NOTE - Section 60 of the Criminal Justice and Public Order Act 1994 gives police officers the power to stop and search individuals without requiring the usual ‘reasonable suspicion’ that they are carrying prohibited items. This power can only be authorised in specific circumstances such as where serious violence is anticipated in a certain area or where weapons are believed to be present.
