The following email has been received from Kat Kostuniak

Dear All,

I hope this message finds you well.

I would like to follow up on my recent email (below) asking for your support in publicising internally a vital community petition – currently the largest in over 20 years – which has garnered overwhelming backing from both residents and local businesses.

We are a small group of residents who live in various locations in Shepherds Bush. This petition calls on the Council to take urgent action to address the neglect that is fuelling crime, drug abuse and anti-social behaviour in our area.

While policing may be outside the Council’s direct control, it has both the power and responsibility to tackle the visible decline in our neighbourhood that fosters a sense of insecurity and abandonment.

Key concerns raised by the community include:

  • Severe disrepair of shopfronts – broken shutters, exposed wiring, and makeshift signage that make the area appear deprived and unsafe.
  • Neglected flats above shops – with peeling paint, graffiti-covered doors, and rusting satellite dishes, these are the first impressions for visitors and the daily reality for residents.
  • Long-term vacant units – contributing nothing to the community while the area is saturated with low-quality, short-term-use businesses that offer little economic or cultural value.
  • Crime, drug dealing and abuse, stealing, violence and much more.

We would appreciate your support in helping us to raise awareness of this important petition by sharing it through your internal network/platform. We have gathered 50% of the signatures required by the council for a council debate. Please help us reach additional signatures by signing and by sharing with the network.

Do let me know if you would like more information or to hear about our collective journey re this petition.

Warm regards,

Kat Kostuniak
