Dear All We have been asked to alert you to the following scam that happened this morning in the area on Westville Road.
A scammer claimed he only had cash and could not use a parking meter with their being mainly 'card only'.
The scammer gave the gentleman five pounds and asked him to put his card into the parking meter.
The scammer then told the gentleman that his card was stuck in the meter, however, the scammer had obviously managed to steal the card while the gentleman was putting in his pin number.
Obviously the scammer had been very convincing in his story.
The fraud was swiftly done and within 5 minutes the scammer had already taken £800 out in cash from cash machine in Askew Road. This has been reported to the police and luckily the bank, in this instance, have returned the money.
